【国际中学部】以史明智,鉴古知今——直击历史周活动现场History Week Report

On Thursday, December 9th, Joy International School held its first annual Social Studies Day. Teachers and students recognized the achievements of the high school students. It was a chance for the secondary school community to share what they have learned from studying history, humanities and social studies.

12月9日,星期四,嘉洋国际学校举办了首届历史周活动,展示和分享本学期在历史、人文和社会研究等方面的收获和成绩。老师和同学们都认可了高中生的成绩。

The school’s Social Studies Day took place on Tuesday December 14nd. We had presentations from different classes: Global Studies, Humanities, and Social Studies. Students explained and presented what they have learned in those classes and answered questions from their peers and other teachers.

12月14日(星期二),学校举行了历史日活动,我们为全球研究、人文和社会研究举办了一个学习博览会,学生们可以解释和展示他们在这些课程中学到的东西,并回答同学们和其他老师提出的问题。

The students delivered their presentations on the 6th floor assembly room, The topics presented were the Five Pillars of Islam; a Comparison of Jesus and Mohammed; the Battle of Tours; Why Islam Spread Rapidly. 

高中班级在六楼的会议室进行演讲,演讲内容包括伊斯兰教的五大支柱;耶稣与穆罕默德的比较;图尔战役;为什么伊斯兰教迅速传播?

Students from each class were divided into a number of groups and presented to the rest of the school on one aspect of a text, such as characters, setting, theme or plot. During the week prior, the students prepared the text of their presentations and then created PowerPoints to help them present their main points. It was particularly pleasing that the students were able to speak in the large space of the 6th floor using microphones. The students really demonstrated some of the key characteristic we seek to develop at Joy International School: the ability to engage with the texts and to present their ideas and feelings, to organize themselves and to present their work in a mature fashion. 

每个班的学生被分成若干组,然后就一篇课文的一个方面,如人物、背景、主题或情节,向学校的其他同学做报告。在此之前的一个星期,学生们准备了演讲的文本,然后制作了幻灯片来展示他们的主要观点。特别令人高兴的是,学生们能够在六楼的大空间里使用麦克风讲话。学生们真正展示了我们在嘉洋国际学校寻求发展的一些关键特征:即参与文本并表达他们的想法和感受的能力; 组织自己的能力,并以成熟的方式展示自己的工作。

The point of these activities was to do what we specialize in at Joy International School: Collaboration, Communication, Confidence, Creativity, and Critical Thinking. The desire to share what they have learned encourage them to demonstrate their skills in a different way from the typical classroom environment.
这些活动的目的是做我们在嘉洋国际学校的专长: 协作,沟通,自信,创造力,批判性思维 ,并利用学生们天生的竞争力,鼓励他们以不同于一般课堂的方式展示他们的技能。

These activities were fun and enjoyed in great spirit by all the students. Robert’s students turned it all into a fun learning experience.
